Labia augmentation

Labia augmentation is an operative procedure which uses fillers to enlarge the outer labial lips.

Who can benefit from labia augmentation?

Women whose outer labia are small because of personal physiology, or whose labia have reduced due to the aging process. Often women seek a labia augmentation, because they feel that the outer labia do not adequately cover the inner labia and wish to have this corrected.

Consultation process for labia augmentation

As part of the consultation for labia augmentation, we will first discuss your thoughts and wishes, and will provide detailed answers to your questions. Following this, an examination is conducted and photographs are then taken. The photographs are used to give a careful explanation of different aspects of the operation based on previous experience, and also to show you the results you can expect from the procedure.

Operative procedure for labia augmentation

The labia augmentation procedure is conducted in two steps. The first step is performed using a local anaesthetic, and involves removing fat from a suitable area of your body such as the abdomen, buttocks, or knee, (liposuction). The second step involves the doctor injecting the purified fat directly into skin tissue to be augmented, (lipo-structure). About 50% – 70% of the transferred fat remains, while the rest is absorbed by the body. To offset this loss of fat and achieve the desired result, it is necessary to ‘overcorrect’ in the first instance.

Post-operative care

The labia augmentation procedure has few complications and does not leave visible scars. Usually patients can leave the clinic an hour after the procedure. The post-operative swelling does not normally require follow up treatment, and is mostly gone after one month.
