Is the result permanent? Is a follow up procedure necessary?
Usually the result of such an operation is permanent. However, the final result can be ascertained at the earliest after one year, when the swelling has completely gone down. After then, the need for a second operation can be determined – usually just minor corrections might be needed.

Do any visible scars remain?
After a so called 'open rhinoplasty' (with a cut in the bridge of the nose), a small scar remains here. This becomes almost invisible, usually after a few weeks.

What is the earliest age at which a nose correction can be performed?
If the operation is purely for aesthetic reasons, then the procedure should not be performed before the age of sixteen. However, based on serious functional problems, a procedure can be undertaken as early as infancy.

Is the removal of the nose tamponade or of the nose splint very painful?
Removal is not completely pain-free, however the pain is not very severe and is only for a short duration.

How soon after the operation can one wear eyeglasses again?
Depending on the method used, patients can wear their eyeglasses again, about two to three weeks after the operation.

How can I best prepare for the operation?
Apart from a positive attitude, patients must be healthy before the operation date. If a cold is present, the operation date must be rescheduled, since a cold infection increases the risks.
