Is the result long lasting? When does a subsequent operation become necessary?
Yes, with a deep SMAS lift, the result is long lasting. With an endoscopic lift however, a subsequent procedure is usually unnecessary for at least 15 years. Then it may become necessary.
-
What is the maximum age at which one can undergo an endoscopic (also known as the ‘closed’) face-lift ?
It can be performed up to the approximately 50 to 55 years of age.
-
Is the result of a closed procedure more natural than an open procedure?
A well implemented SMAS lift can produce very natural results. With the closed lift however, no scars develop - at the same time giving natural results.
-
Are there specific complications or subsequent complaints with an endoscopic mid-facelift (apart from the healing of wounds etc.)?
Occasionally, loss of sensitivity to the upper-lip may be experienced, while also sometimes, lip mobility may need some time to adjust. This is due to the fact that the muscles have been shifted by the operation. Even though you experience a difference in your feelings around the mouth area, these are not noticeable to people around you. Nerve injuries are however almost impossible.
-
Are scars in the mouth mucous membrane more problematical than scars to the face?
The scars in the mouth mucous membrane nearly completely disappear after a short time and are often practically unnoticeable.
